Coffee and Pastry Volunteers

For parishioners who would like to be more involved with St. Thomas More  but don't have a lot of time, serving coffee and pastries after the 8:30 or 11 a.m. Masses is a great option. It requires a small time commitment once a month, or once every six weeks.

Set-up before Mass takes about 10 minutes, most of which involves making the coffee, filling the hot water pot, and getting the supplies together from the cupboards and pantry.

Just before Mass ends, the servers set out the coffee and pastries so parishioners can enjoy a few minutes of fellowship before returning to their busy lives.

Breakdown begins about 15 minutes after Mass is over and most people have enjoyed the refreshments. It takes about 10 minutes to empty and wash the coffee pot and clean up the area.

It's  fun and you get to meet new people. Everyone loves the servers who provide that hot cup of coffee.

We try to have two servers at each Mass, usually a couple or a family. We have also formed teams of singles and would be happy to do so again.

My husband and I have enjoyed coffee and pastries after Mass since we first joined St. Thomas More in 1969. When we returned in 1998, we got involved as servers and have been doing it ever since.
